August 10, 1957 — December 3, 2019
Photographer · Veteran · Friend to All
Wayne was always so full of life and never met a stranger.
— From his obituary, December 2019Wayne Dennon was many things — a son, a brother, a father, a grandfather, a veteran, and a friend to everyone he ever met. But to the thousands of concert-goers and music lovers who found their way to this site, he was something else entirely: the guy in the crowd with the camera, the one who somehow always got the perfect shot, the one who understood that live music was worth preserving forever.
Wayne passed away on December 3, 2019, at the age of 62, leaving behind a legacy that lives on in every photo in this archive — more than 32,000 images spanning nearly two decades of concerts, venues, and artists across the country.
Wayne didn't just love music — he lived it. Whether it was a packed arena or a small venue, Wayne was there, camera in hand, ready to capture the moment that most people would only carry in their memory. He had an eye for the authentic — the raw energy of a guitarist mid-solo, the connection between a singer and the crowd, the chaos and beauty of live performance.
What started as a personal passion grew into something much bigger. Over the years, Wayne built one of the most extensive personal concert photography archives anywhere online — hundreds of shows, dozens of venues, and more than 460 artists documented with care and dedication. He never sought fame for his work. He simply loved doing it, and he was very, very good at it.
Wayne approached photography the way he approached everything in life — with curiosity, enthusiasm, and absolutely no fear of asking questions or putting himself out there. He wasn't afraid to get close to the stage, to introduce himself to a stranger, or to stay until the very last note. That spirit is visible in every single photo in this archive.
This archive is Wayne's greatest gift to the music community. Every photo is a moment he preserved — a moment that would otherwise exist only in the fading memory of everyone who was there. These numbers represent years of dedication, thousands of miles traveled, and an unshakeable love of live music.
People who knew Wayne will tell you the same thing — he lit up a room. He had a warmth that was completely genuine, a laugh you could hear across a venue, and an ability to make whoever he was talking to feel like the most important person in the world. He never met a stranger because he never let anyone stay a stranger for long.
He lived life fully and fearlessly. He served his country in the United States Air Force. He raised a daughter, cherished his granddaughter Braelyn, and remained close to his family throughout his life. He was born in Sharonville, Ohio, and he carried that Midwestern warmth and openness with him everywhere he went.
He never met a stranger. He was never afraid of asking a question or the answer. He had a zest for life and living it to its fullest.
— Andrew Pike, friend & webmasterWayne believed that life was meant to be experienced — not watched from the sidelines. He showed up. He engaged. He connected. And then he captured it all on film so the rest of us could remember it forever. That's who Wayne Dennon was. And that's why this archive will always be his.
Wayne is survived by the people he loved most — his family, who knew him not as a photographer or a veteran, but simply as Wayne. As a son, a brother, a father, and a grandfather, he was dearly loved and is deeply missed.
Wayne was laid to rest at Landmark Memorial Gardens, Evendale, Ohio on December 9, 2019.
