Their debut album One Day Remains (2004) on Wind-up Records established the band's heavier, more guitar-forward identity and demonstrated that the three Creed alumni had genuinely creative ambitions beyond their previous band. Blackbird (2007) was a quantum leap forward — a more complex, ambitious, and musically sophisticated album that earned widespread critical acclaim and produced the epic title track Blackbird, a nearly eight-minute song that showcased both Kennedy's vocal ceiling and Tremonti's gift for melodic lead guitar in a way that silenced any remaining skeptics who had dismissed the band as a Creed spinoff. The album reached number five on the Billboard 200 and firmly established Alter Bridge as a major creative force in their own right.

AB III (2010) debuted at number nine on the Billboard 200 and continued their creative evolution with a darker, heavier sound, while Fortress (2013) was greeted by many critics as their finest work — a relentlessly strong album with no weak moments that demonstrated a band operating at the peak of their powers. The Last Hero (2016), Walk the Sky (2019), and Pawns and Kings (2022) have maintained their remarkable consistency across two decades of recording. Kennedy's simultaneous career fronting Slash's solo band has kept him in the public eye between Alter Bridge albums, while Tremonti's prolific solo work has further demonstrated his stature as one of rock's most gifted guitarists. Alter Bridge have sold over two million albums worldwide and built one of the most devoted fanbases in modern rock.
