Goatwhore is an American blackened death metal band from New Orleans, Louisiana, formed in 1997 by guitarist and primary songwriter Sammy Duet following his departure from Acid Bath. Falgoust's departure in 2020 to focus on his other band Soilent Green was a significant transition, with the remaining members recruiting new vocalist Zach Donahue. The band released Angels Hung from the Arches of Heaven (2022) with the new lineup to strong critical response, demonstrating the durability of Duet's songwriting vision beyond any single vocalist. Goatwhore's combination of genuine musical sophistication, underground credibility, and relentless live presence has made them one of the most enduring acts in American extreme metal.
