Saving Abel is an American hard rock band from Corinth, Mississippi, founded in 2004 by lead guitarist Jason Null and lead singer Jared Weeks. The two met by chance when Null walked into a rehearsal at a mutual friend's house where Weeks was playing, and within days they were writing songs together. Their name came from Null googling the biblical story of Cain and Abel and finding the phrase "there was no saving Abel" - it jumped out at him immediately. Their early demos caught the ear of Memphis producer Skidd Mills, who brought them into his 747 Studio to record, and the band gradually built out their full lineup adding guitarist Scott Bartlett, bassist Eric Taylor, and drummer Blake Dixon. Their breakthrough came when their song Addicted caught the attention of Virgin Records CEO Jason Flom, leading to a major label deal and their self-titled debut album in March 2008. Addicted rose to number two on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Songs chart, reached number 20 on the Hot 100, and has since been certified five-times Platinum. The album followed up with the radio hit 18 Days and the band spent much of 2009 touring major amphitheaters on Nickelback's Dark Horse Tour alongside Hinder and Papa Roach. Their second album Miss America arrived in 2010, followed by Bringing Down the Giant (2012) and Cracking the Safe (2013). The band went through lineup changes in subsequent years but co-founder Jason Null has kept Saving Abel active, announcing a new touring lineup in 2025 that included veterans of the Cincinnati-based rock scene.
