Lips of an Angel, a piano-driven power ballad about longing for an ex while in a new relationship, became a massive crossover hit — reaching number three on the Billboard Hot 100 and spending six weeks at number one on the Adult Top 40 chart, making it one of the biggest rock crossover singles of the decade. Extreme Behavior sold over two million copies in the United States alone and established Hinder as a commercial force. Take It to the Limit (2008) and All American Nightmare (2010) maintained their rock radio presence and continued their touring momentum.

Winkler's departure from the band in 2013 was a significant transition, with Marshall Dutton stepping in as replacement vocalist for Welcome to the Freakshow (2012) and subsequent releases. The band navigated the lineup change with characteristic resilience, continuing to record and tour for a fanbase that had followed them since the Extreme Behavior era.
