Skrape was an American nu metal band from Orlando, Florida, formed in 1997 originally under the name Jojo before renaming to Skrape around 1999. The band came together around drummer and co-founder Will Hunt, who was inspired to form his own group while touring Europe with Stuck Mojo and watching crowds go wild for Life of Agony. The lineup solidified around vocalist Billy Keeton, guitarists Mike Lynchard and Brian Milner, and bassist Pete Sison - members who had previously played in bands including Stuck Mojo and Genitorturers. After building a local following in Orlando and recording a demo, they signed to RCA Records in October 1999. Their debut album New Killer America arrived in 2001, earning AllMusic praise for its bright and intelligent approach to hard rock and spawning active rock radio singles Waste and Isolated. A grueling tour alongside Pantera, Slayer, and Morbid Angel toughened the band considerably and helped the album sell over 100,000 copies in the US alone, while a festival appearance in Japan saw it become the twelfth best-selling album in the country. Their second album Up the Dose (2004), produced by Jimbo Barton of Queensryche and Godsmack fame, was completed in mid-2003 but repeatedly delayed by their label following a corporate takeover by J Records. The band was dropped shortly after release. Will Hunt went on to join Dark New Day and later Evanescence, while Keeton continued with various projects including Audiotopsy. In March 2026 Keeton announced that Skrape had reunited with plans to tour and record new music.
