About Queensryche

Queensrÿche is an American progressive metal band formed in Bellevue, Washington in 1980, originally performing as Cross+Fire before settling on their current name in 1982. Built around vocalist Geoff Tate, guitarists Michael Wilton and Chris DeGarmo, bassist Eddie Jackson, and drummer Scott Rockenfield, Queensrÿche brought an unusual level of musical sophistication and conceptual ambition to heavy metal — drawing from progressive rock, classical music, and art rock influences to create albums that functioned as complete artistic statements rather than collections of individual songs. Their technical precision and Tate's extraordinary operatic tenor voice set them apart from virtually every other metal band of the 1980s.
