As I Lay Dying

As I Lay Dying is an American metalcore band from San Diego, California, formed in 2000 by vocalist Tim Lambesis. Drawing from melodic death metal and hardcore influences, the band became one of the leading acts in the new wave of American heavy metal through the mid-2000s, releasing acclaimed albums including Frail Words Collapse (2003), Shadows Are Security (2005), and An Ocean Between Us (2007). They toured extensively on Ozzfest and Warped Tour and signed with Metal Blade Records, building a massive international following. The band's trajectory was derailed in 2013 when Lambesis was arrested and subsequently convicted for soliciting the murder of his estranged wife, leading to an extended hiatus. The band reformed in 2018 with Lambesis returning as vocalist, a decision that generated significant controversy but allowed them to resume recording and touring.
