Papa Roach

Infest sold over five million copies worldwide and established Papa Roach as a genuine commercial force, blending nu metal aggression with melodic hooks and confessional lyrics in a way that felt more emotionally direct than many of their contemporaries. The follow-up Lovehatetragedy (2002) and Getting Away with Murder (2004) demonstrated the band's evolution toward a more straightforward hard rock sound, shedding some of the hip hop influences of their debut while maintaining the emotional directness that connected with their audience. The Paramour Sessions (2006) and Metamorphosis (2009) continued their commercial presence on rock radio.

Shaddix's openness about his struggles with addiction, mental health, and personal crises throughout the band's career has given Papa Roach a genuine authenticity that resonates with fans who find their own experiences reflected in the music. The band navigated lineup changes — most notably Esperance's departure and return — and continued releasing music through the 2010s and 2020s including F.E.A.R.
