Bret Michaels is an American rock musician, songwriter, and entertainer born Bret Michael Sychak on March 15, 1963, in Butler, Pennsylvania, best known as the founder, lead vocalist, and creative driving force behind the iconic glam metal band Poison. With his trademark bandanas, bleached hair, and charismatic stage presence, Michaels became one of the defining faces of the late 1980s rock and roll lifestyle — a era of excess, anthemic power ballads, and arena-filling hard rock that Poison helped define and that Michaels has continued to celebrate throughout a solo career spanning three decades.
