About The Killers

The Killers are an American rock band formed in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2001 by vocalist and keyboardist Brandon Flowers and guitarist Dave Keuning, who connected through a newspaper ad. The two bonded over shared influences rooted in British new wave and 1980s pop rock - The Cure, New Order, Duran Duran, and David Bowie - and the band took its name from the logo on the bass drum of a fictional band in New Order's Crystal music video. Bassist Mark Stoermer and drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr. completed the classic lineup in 2002. The band stood out immediately on a Las Vegas scene dominated by punk and nu metal, described by one local reviewer as a mix of British pop and indie rock. Their debut album Hot Fuss arrived in 2004 and became a worldwide phenomenon, spawning Mr. Brightside - one of the most enduring rock songs of the 21st century - alongside Somebody Told Me and All These Things That I've Done. The album sold seven million copies and has been certified six times platinum in the US and eight times platinum in the UK. Every studio album since has topped the UK Albums Chart, making them one of the very few acts to achieve that distinction seven consecutive times. Sam's Town (2006), Day and Age (2008), Battle Born (2012), Wonderful Wonderful (2017) which also reached number one on the US Billboard 200, Imploding the Mirage (2020), and Pressure Machine (2021) have all sustained their standing as one of the biggest rock bands of the 21st century. The Killers have sold over 28 million records worldwide, performed on six continents, and headlined Glastonbury Festival, Wembley Stadium, and Madison Square Garden.
