About These Enhanced Photos
You may notice some photos across the site now look sharper and more detailed than before. We're gradually enhancing photo resolution across the archive using AI-powered upscaling.
Why we're doing this: when these photos were originally uploaded to this site years ago, they were resized and optimized down to a maximum of about 500×500 pixels — standard practice at the time, but quite small by today's standards. Wayne's original raw files are stored on hard drives that are currently kept in secure storage and aren't readily accessible right now. Rather than wait, we've chosen to enhance the versions already published on this site, so visitors can enjoy clearer, more detailed photos sooner — while staying as true to the original film photography as possible.
A note on accuracy: because this process uses AI to intelligently sharpen and fill in detail — rather than working from Wayne's original source files — it isn't perfect. You may occasionally notice small inconsistencies in an enhanced photo. These are known limitations of AI upscaling technology, not intentional edits, and we're not trying to hide or minimize them.
The enhancement is performed using WaveSpeed AI's image-upscaler model. This particular service was chosen because it offers a proper API that could be automated directly from the site's existing PHP-based server — important given the size of this archive (28,000+ photos) and the fact that the site is managed without a traditional desktop editing setup. It's also affordable enough to reasonably run across a large photo archive over time, while still producing quality results appropriate for preserving concert photography. If you ever spot something that looks noticeably off in a photo, feel free to leave a comment on it — we're always working to strike the right balance between clarity and authenticity.

August 2026
- Fixed a bug on the Tour Dates page that caused a large batch of unrelated concert listings, with no artist name attached, to appear at the top of the schedule.
- Artist pages for artists no longer in the archive now show a proper "Artist Not Found" page with links to keep browsing, instead of a blank page.
- Tour date listings are now checked against the artist archive before being displayed, so a listing can never appear without a matching artist.
- Cleaned up a number of old, incomplete records left over from early years of the archive.
July 2026
- Photos now open in a full-screen viewer, with swipe navigation on phones and tablets and the Escape key to close on desktop.
- Fixed an issue where a photo that failed to load could leave you stuck, unable to move on to the next photo in a show.
- Fixed the full-screen photo viewer buttons not displaying correctly on iPhone and iPad.
- Replaced the homepage photo transition with a camera-shutter effect, in keeping with the subject matter.
- The homepage now always opens on a featured photo before rotating through fan favorites.
- Fixed an issue where returning visitors could see outdated page styling until they manually refreshed the page.
- Show pages for concerts no longer in the archive now show a proper "Show Not Found" page rather than an empty one.
- Rebuilt the behind-the-scenes visitor statistics dashboard, correcting several timing and counting errors.
- Fixed a timezone bug on this page that could show a newly loved or viewed photo as having been queued hours ago instead of just now.
- Fixed a bug where using "Post Now" in the Photo of the Week or On This Day admin tools could show a blank page instead of confirming the post went out.
- Press releases are now held for review and approval before appearing on the site, so similarly-named bands or unrelated news can no longer slip through automatically.
- Added a consistent navigation bar across all admin tools for easier movement between them.
- Refined how photos get prioritized for resolution upgrades: most-loved photos first, then photos from recently active shows, focusing the effort on what fans are actually enjoying.
- Added this Site Updates page to keep you in the loop on what's changing around the archive, including a live look at photos currently being enhanced.
- Newly loved photos are now automatically queued for a resolution upgrade, so fan favorites keep getting sharper over time.
- Extended the higher-resolution photo upgrades to Artist, Show, and Venue pages, not just the homepage.
- Smoothed out the rotating photo transitions on the homepage, Most Loved, and Most Viewed pages, especially on mobile devices.
- Sped up background photo loading across the site.
- Added smooth, rotating photo backgrounds to the homepage, Most Loved, and Most Viewed pages, showcasing a rotating set of fan-favorite photos.
- Began upgrading photo resolution across the most-loved and most-viewed photos using AI-powered image upscaling, with more photos being enhanced over time.
- Added full pagination to the Most Loved and Most Viewed photo pages, so you can now browse the entire collection instead of just a fixed top selection.
- Enabled secure HTTPS across the entire site for safer browsing.
- Made significant homepage speed improvements, including faster database connections and elimination of a slow-loading bug affecting first-time visitors.
- Polished the visual styling of hero sections and stat displays for better consistency across pages.

- Rebuilt the Tour Dates page with better filtering by location and artist, plus a homepage preview of upcoming shows.
- Enhanced artist pages with expandable band biographies, official website links, and social media links (Facebook, X/Twitter, Instagram, YouTube).
- Added dozens of new artist biography write-ups to the archive, connecting each artist's story back to Wayne's photography.
- Performed a full site-wide photo optimization pass, meaningfully reducing load times across the entire 28,000+ photo archive.
- Replaced the site's older icon system with faster-loading, sharper graphics throughout.
- Added visitor tracking to better understand how the archive is being explored.
May 2026
- Added a "Recently Viewed Photos" ticker to the homepage, showing a live stream of photos other visitors are currently browsing.
- Introduced a Press Releases section highlighting artist news and announcements.
- Continued refining automated social media features that share featured photos and "On This Day" concert memories.
