Hatebreed — Concert Photography by Wayne Dennon

Hatebreed formed in November 1994 in Bridgeport and New Haven, Connecticut, founded by Jamey Jasta, Dave Russo, Larry Dwyer, and Chris Beattie. The young band emerged from the local straight-edge hardcore scene and began by recording a three song demo and selling it to locals, with those songs eventually released on a split seven inch with New York's Neglect in 1995. They followed that up with the highly acclaimed EP Under the Knife in 1996, and went out on tour around the east coast and midwest with the UKHC band Voorhees. From the outset, Jasta's abrasive vocal style and the band's blend of hardcore aggression with heavy metal riffing set them apart in a crowded scene of Connecticut hardcore acts.
