About Eyehategod

Eyehategod formed in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1988, founded by guitarist Jimmy Bower and drummer Joey LaCaze, who recruited Mark Schultz, Steve Dale and vocalist Chris Hilliard, with Hilliard later leaving the group and being replaced by Mike Williams. The band emerged in the early 1990s with an ugly and uncompromising blend of doomy, bluesy punk and misanthropic metal that quickly pushed them to the fore of the fertile NOLA metal scene. Steeped in the swampy heat and hard-luck atmosphere of their hometown, the band forged a sound built on down-tuned, bluesy riffs and raw, confrontational noise that set them apart from the faster thrash and hardcore acts dominating the local scene at the time.
