Adema

Adema's subsequent career arc was defined as much by resilience as by turmoil. Ransom left the band in 2003 followed by Chavez later in 2004 due to conflicts between themselves and other members of the band, and Luke Caraccioli replaced Chavez in early 2005 for one album, Planets, but then left a few months later in late 2005. Vocalist Bobby Reeves and guitarist Ed Faris, both from the band Level, were recruited to join as well, but only released one album, Kill the Headlights in 2007, before entering a hiatus. The band regrouped when the original lineup reformed in late 2009 and toured, though both Ransom and Chavez left again before new music would be recorded, and Fluckey took over lead vocals from 2011 to 2017. Chavez and Ransom would each return to the fold at different points in the 2010s, and in 2019 Chavez left for the third time, with Ryan Shuck replacing him on vocals , underscoring a career marked by nearly constant flux around a stable rhythm section core of DeRoo, Kohls, and Fluckey.

In more recent years, Adema has continued to operate as a touring outfit built around its surviving founding members. The band's current lineup consists of original members Tim Fluckey on lead vocals and guitar, Mike Ransom on guitar, and Dave DeRoo on bass. Though the band never repeated the commercial heights of its 2001 debut, Adema remains a recognizable name from the early-2000s nu metal explosion, remembered for bridging the aggressive and melodic strands of the genre and for launching alongside contemporaries who came out of the same Bakersfield scene as Korn.

It is fitting that Adema has a place in this archive of Wayne Dennon's concert photography. Wayne photographed the band during one show in 2003, right in the thick of their rise following the Unstable era, and the 43 photographs from that night remain preserved here as a document of the band at a pivotal moment in its history. Those images have since been viewed 34,702 times by visitors to this site, a quiet testament to the enduring interest in Wayne's work and in the era of rock he captured so faithfully.
