About Corrosion Of Conformity

Corrosion of Conformity formed in Raleigh, North Carolina, in 1982, when teenage musicians Woody Weatherman, Mike Dean, and Reed Mullin began playing together, initially under names like The Accused and Barney Fife's Army before settling on their permanent name. They played their first shows on the Carolina punk circuit alongside Hüsker Dü, Dead Kennedys, and Agnostic Front , and vocalist Eric Eycke soon joined the lineup. The band's debut, the thrashy, Black Flag-influenced Eye For An Eye, arrived in 1984 and introduced the world to the lineup of Weatherman, Mullin, Eycke, and Dean. Their early sound was rooted firmly in hardcore punk, and by 1985's follow-up they had begun pushing into the aggressive crossover thrash style that would help define a burgeoning scene where punk and metal collided.
