About Chevelle

Chevelle formed in 1995 in Grayslake, Illinois, built around brothers Pete Loeffler on vocals and guitar and Sam Loeffler on drums, with Matt Scott rounding out the original lineup on bass. Chevelle is an American rock band formed in Grayslake, Illinois, in 1995, originally composed of two brothers, Pete Loeffler on lead vocals and guitar and Sam Loeffler on drums and percussion, along with Matt Scott on bass and backing vocals. Scott was replaced by Sam and Pete's brother, Joe Loeffler, in 1996 , completing the trio of brothers that would define the band's earliest incarnation. Inspired by the lurching riffs of Helmet and the soft and loud vocal styling of Tool, the Chicago-based trio's aggressive, heavy sound was built around mounting tension exploding into raw guitar bursts. The band self-released its debut, and their first studio album, Point #1, was released on a small record label called Squint Entertainment , establishing them as a promising alternative rock act with a distinctive heaviness beneath its melodic hooks.
