About Tracii Guns

Tracii Guns first picked up a guitar as a boy in Los Angeles, inspired after hearing Jimmy Page on the radio, and by his teenage years he had already begun assembling the group that would define his career. While attending Fairfax High School in Los Angeles, he met future bandmates Robert Gardner and Michael Jagosz, and the three formed a band called Pyrrhus with bassist Dani Tull. Pyrrhus was formed in 1983 by guitarist Tracii Guns with lead vocalist Michael Jagosz, bassist Dani Tull and drummer Rob Gardner, and the group was soon renamed L.A. Guns after Tull was replaced by Ole Beich. The young band quickly became a fixture of the Sunset Strip club scene, playing raw, aggressive glam metal steeped in blues and hard rock roots. In a twist that would shape rock history, in 1983 guitarist Tracii Guns introduced Chris Weber to Izzy Stradlin, who soon formed a band with Stradlin's childhood friend Axl Rose, and after several lineup changes the group became Hollywood Rose before Rose later joined Guns's band L.A. Guns, recommended by Stradlin. Guns N' Roses was formed in March 1985 by Rose, Stradlin, Guns, Gardner, and bassist Ole Beich , though Tracii departed within months and was replaced by his childhood friend Slash, leaving his surname permanently stamped on one of rock's biggest bands.
