About Cathedral

Cathedral was an English doom metal band from Coventry, formed in 1989 by vocalist Lee Dorrian following his departure from Napalm Death. One of the founding acts of the doom metal revival, Cathedral began with an extremely slow, heavy sound influenced by Black Sabbath and St. Vitus before evolving into a more psychedelic and retro rock direction over the course of their career. Albums including Forest of Equilibrium (1991), The Ethereal Mirror (1993), and The VIIth Coming (2002) cemented their status as one of doom metal's most inventive and beloved acts. The band announced their dissolution in 2013 after over two decades of recording and touring.
