Soil

Soil — Concert Photography by Wayne Dennon

About Soil

Soil formed in Chicago, Illinois in 1997, taking shape when three of four members of death metal act Oppressor were joined by a guitarist from Broken Hope as a side project, with Ryan McCombs later recruited for vocal duties, giving the band its original lineup of McCombs on vocals, Shaun Glass, Tom Schofield, Tim King, and Adam Zadel . Working in a heavier, more aggressive vein than their earlier death metal projects, the band released a string of independent efforts, including their debut EP El Chupacabra! in 1998, followed by the full-length Throttle Junkies in 1999 , laying the groundwork for the alternative metal and nu metal sound that would define their career.
