Life Of Agony

Life Of Agony — Concert Photography by Wayne Dennon

About Life Of Agony

Life of Agony formed in Brooklyn, New York in the summer of 1989, built around vocalist Keith Caputo, his cousin Joey Z on guitar, and longtime friend Alan Robert on bass. The band's formation in 1989 was deeply tied to the local hardcore scene, particularly Biohazard, whose bassist-vocalist Evan Seinfeld babysat a young Robert and introduced him to influential music that shaped the group's early sound. After cycling through drummers, they brought in Type O Negative's Sal Abruscato, and the classic lineup signed to Roadrunner Records to cut their debut. From the start, the band fused the aggression of New York hardcore with metal riffing and unusually raw, melodic vocals, setting them apart from many of their contemporaries.
