About Violent Soho

Violent Soho formed in 2004 in the Brisbane suburb of Mansfield, Queensland, originally under the name Showroom, when guitarists/vocalists Luke Boerdam and James Tidswell, bassist Luke Henery, and drummer Michael Richards formed the band as students going to school together . Steeped in the fuzzed-out sounds of the era, the band emerged from Mansfield as scrappy teens in the mid-aughts, hailed as flannelled successors to Nirvana and The Vines . Their debut EP, Pigs & TV, arrived in 2006, and the praise it drew allowed them to tour Sydney and Melbourne , before their debut album, We Don't Belong Here, arrived in 2008, the same year they played the St. Jerome's Laneway Festival, and received airplay on the band's hometown station 4ZZZ as well as nationwide Triple J .
