Slash, born Saul Hudson on July 23, 1965 in London, is a British-American guitarist widely regarded as one of the greatest in rock history. He joined Guns N' Roses in 1985 and helped craft the band's 1987 debut Appetite for Destruction - the best-selling debut album in US history with over 28 million copies sold - on the strength of instantly iconic riffs and solos on Sweet Child O' Mine, Welcome to the Jungle, and Paradise City. After leaving GNR in 1996 he co-founded the supergroup Velvet Revolver with former bandmates Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum alongside Scott Weiland, scoring a Grammy for the single Slither. His solo career launched in 2010 and led to a lasting partnership with vocalist Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators, releasing four albums together through 2022. Slash rejoined the reunited Guns N' Roses in 2016 for the Not in This Lifetime Tour, which grossed over $584 million. In 2024 he released Orgy of the Damned, a blues covers album featuring Brian Johnson, Chris Stapleton, Billy Gibbons, and Gary Clark Jr. that debuted at number one on the Billboard Blues Albums chart. Time magazine named him runner-up to Jimi Hendrix on their list of the 10 Best Electric Guitar Players of all time.
