About KISS

I have solid facts now. Let me also confirm the End of the Road tour and retirement/final show details briefly. KISS was formed in New York City in January 1973, brought together by Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley after their previous band, Wicked Lester, dissolved. The duo began recruiting a drummer and guitarist for a new outfit, envisioning a more uniform hard rock sound. They were soon joined by lead guitarist Ace Frehley and drummer Peter Criss, completing the original lineup, and Kiss performed its first show on January 30, 1973, at the Popcorn Club (later Conventry) in Sunnyside, Queens. From the start, the band built its identity around theatrical live performances involving pyrotechnics, shocking visual effects, extravagant outfits, and black-and-white Kabuki-inspired clown makeup , with each member adopting a distinct persona to match.
