About L.A. Guns

L.A. Guns emerged from the Sunset Strip rock scene of early-1980s Los Angeles, formed in 1983 by guitarist Tracii Guns. The group originally went by the name Pyrrhus and included guitarist Tracii Guns, lead vocalist Mike Jagosz, bassist Dani Tull and drummer Rob Gardner, before being renamed L.A. Guns after Tull was replaced by Ole Beich. In a twist that would forever link the band to rock history, the first incarnation of the group merged with fellow Los Angeles group the defunct Hollywood Rose to form Guns N' Roses in March 1985. Undeterred, Tracii Guns quickly reformed L.A. Guns, and the new lineup consisted of Paul Black, Mick Cripps, Robert Stoddard, and Nickey Alexander, with Black soon replaced by former Girl singer Phil Lewis while former Faster Pussycat bassist Kelly Nickels was added to the group. This sleaze-rock, glam-tinged sound became the band's signature as they clawed their way into the competitive Hollywood club circuit.
